The "girls" of the Whistlekick Pygora herd have been carefully selected from top bloodlines for their fiber quality, conformation and temperament. The herd is large enough to provide variety in fiber, but small enough that we know each goat individually. Our goaties are "part of the family" and are handled with love and care. We get a lot of joy out of our interaction with our Pygoras.

The Whistlekick herd is a blend of personalities. In fact, it's almost two mini-herds: a group of more mature does who go about their day sedately grazing, resting and ruminating, and a group of "babies" - the younger does who spend their day interspersing wild bouts of play with their grazing, resting and ruminating. Come meet the girls……..

Note: For an explanation of micron counts, spin fineness and comfort factor, see our Sales & Services Page.

Whistlekick's Molly
Molly is the kid who started our love affair with goats (read her story on our home page. Now a grand old lady of 9, Molly rarely honors the rest of our herd with her presence. Since she was raised with our horses before the other goaties came to live here, Molly is convinced that she is a horse, preferring to spend her time with the horses rather than the goats (ok, who are we fooling? If we let her, Molly would be in the house with us).

Sire: Windshadow's Woodruff
Dam: McTimmonds Valley Farm La Crema

Isis is the queen of the herd. She is not bossy or pushy, but this dainty lady claims the sunniest places to lay, the choicest shoots to eat and the close companionship of her pal Daphne. Friendly and confident, Isis has luscious, soft, warm fiber.
McTimmonds Valley Farm Daphne

Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 20.7 µ
Spin Fineness: 31 µ
Comfort Factor: 95.8%
Sire: Windshadow's Woodruff

Daphne is the close companion of Isis - and works as her enforcer. Isis does not need to get her dainty little hooves dirty as Daphne guards her and keeps the other girls in line with Isis' wishes. Daphne has marvelous fiber - a lovely blend of brown, grey and black that is soft and lofty when spun.

Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 27.2 µ
Spin Fineness: 24 µ
Comfort Factor: 80.7%
Sire: Applebright Farm Clifford
Dam: Hollyhock Hollow Margo

Lula and her gorgeous daughter, Snow, came to us from Verdant Vistas. Lula is a beautiful doe; square bodied and strong legged with a pretty face and a kind temperament. She settled right into our herd, establishing her place as one of the dominant girls. Her fiber is a beautiful white with a hint of caramel and her babies are fabulous! Lula has been bred to Cattail Meadows Farm Tristan for spring 2010 kids. For more on Tristan, see the Cattail Meadows Farm website.
Verdant Vistas Snow
Registered with PBA

Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 20.5 µ
Spin Fineness: 25.4 µ
Comfort Factor: 96%
Sire: Verdant Vistas Aiden

For sheer beauty, Snow is IT in the herd. Great conformation and a refined head with luminous eyes and a sweet personality to match. And oh, her fiber…soft, thick, warm, white with a hint of caramel and a beautiful sheen. As the largest of the "baby" herd, Snow is a bit more dignified than the rest of the "babies", but she will unbend enough to play. Snow has been bred to Cattail Meadows Farm Tristan for spring 2010 kids. For more on Tristan, see the Cattail Meadows Farm website.
Tuckerwoods Farm Adeline (Winnie)

Color/Fleece Color: light grey agouti/white
Fleece Type: A
Micron Count: 23.2 µ
Spin Fineness: 25 µ
Comfort Factor: 93.4%
Sire: Fluffball Farm Falkner
Dam: Hawks Mountain Ranch Blue Bell

When this girl came to us, we were not sure what we had. We knew the bloodlines were good. And then she started to grow fiber, surprising us with a luscious, curly, thick, type-A coat. Silky, cool and soft, her fiber almost spins itself.
Verdant Vistas Bresa
Registered with PBA
Color/Fleece Color: black/medium gray
Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 23.1 µ
Spin Fineness: 25 µ
Comfort Factor: 82.4%
Sire: Baker Ridge Arvydas
Dam: Verdant Vistas Pygoras Black Velvet

Another wonderful Verdant Vistas kid, Bresa is a magnificent example of a Pygora goat: great conformation with incredible fleece (soft, soft, soft) and a winning personality. At the Shepherd's Harvest gathering in Lake Elmo, MN, her fiber was the first to sell out. To read a professional opinion of her fiber, see the Fall 2008 issue of Spin-Off magazine (page 80).
Weeping Willows Ginger
Registered with PBA
Color/Fleece Color: light caramel/light caramel
Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 24.1 µ
Spin Fineness: 38.2 µ
Comfort Factor: 90.6%
Sire: Verdant Vistas Aiden
Dam: 4 Bucks Ranch Ginger

You're not supposed to have favorites, but I have to admit that I do and Ginger is it. She is the explorer of the herd. Knowing no fear (and few boundaries), Ginger sets out to explore the world - or at least our farm. A playful, energetic, loving Pygora, she loves to have her belly scratched. Ginger has a soft, deep, thick coat of caramel once a year. Ginger has been bred to Cattail Meadows Farm Tristan for spring 2010 kids. For more on Tristan, see the Cattail Meadows Farm website.
Weeping Willows Taffy
Registered with PBA
Color/Fleece Color: light caramel/light caramel
Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 19.8 µ
Spin Fineness: 21.7 µ
Comfort Factor: 99.1%
Sire: Weeping Willow Pygoras Ezekiel
Dam: Weeping Willow Pygoras Ruth

Even though they are not related, we referred to Ginger and Taffy as "the twins". When they were babies, they looked very much alike and, coming from the same farm, they are devoted to each other. As they mature, you can see differences between them: Ginger is more daring and Taffy has fluffier, curlier, softer fiber. A dream to spin, the feel of her fiber slipping through your fingers as you spin is a treat. As is Taffy herself (except for her voice - somehow, she sounds more like a foghorn than a goat : ).

Verdant Vistas Black Velvet
Registered with PBA
Color/Fleece Color: black/brown
Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 29.5 µ
Spin Fineness: 50.1 µ
Comfort Factor: 83.71%
Sire: Peppermint Pastures Morris
Dam: Verdant Vistas Molly Malone

One of our two newest goaties, Velvet is the mom of Bresa. She comes to us from Verdant Vistas. The largest and strongest of the does, Velvet’s affectionate nickname is Bruiser as she is not shy about ensuring that all in the herd know her status. Not only does Velvet produce beautiful kids, she has wonderful fiber and a lot of it.

Verdant Vistas Colene
Registered with PBA
Color/Fleece Color: Solid Black/brown
Fleece Type: B
Micron Count: 24.1 µ
Spin Fineness: 35.7 µ
Comfort Factor: 88.5%
Sire: Baker Ridge Arvydas
Dam: Peppermint Pastures Pygoras Kora

Colene is the second of our two new girls. She also comes to us from Verdant Vistas. Colene arrived at our farm with Velvet. She is one of the shyer goats in the herd. She has an adorable cap of curls that flops over her forehead when in full fleece and the most amazing, soft, abundant, curly fiber. She truly looks like a walking fleece ball when in full fleece. Both Colene and Velvet complement our line of black/brown fleece with Daphne and Bresa.
